At Turning Pointe, we feel called to not only disciple dancers, but to reach out to the community and touch hearts for Christ. We work toward that calling through our school year and summer Outreach.
After dancing professionally at Ballet Magnificat!, the nations premier Christian Ballet Company, then studying Cross-Cultural Missions at Reformed Bible College, Artistic Director Lara Faucher felt a calling to disciple young men and women through high quality ballet training and to open hearts to Christ through high quality ballet performance.
"It was then that I realized that my heart was to teach and disciple dancers... that my mission field was not to be across the ocean; my mission field was to be in a ballet studio." Lara Faucher, Artistic Director
During the busy school year we offer two high quality, large scale ballets to the Lakeshore community. The Promise has become a Christmas tradition, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ through classical and contemporary choreography. The Deliverer, new in 2011, celebrates the death and resurrection of Jesus and all the emotions surrounding those life-altering three days.
"Although many may think that our performances are simply family-friendly entertainment, we see them as Outreach. Like a good sermon, emotions are stirred, hearts are opened and a seed is planted in our audience by the Holy Spirit. This form of Outreach is at the heart of what we feel called to do." Lara Faucher, Artistic Director
As time permits, we also send dancers out to perform Ministry Repertory at churches, nursing homes and community events.

The more relaxing pace of summer allows us to offer more Ministry and Outreach opportunities to our students and to the community. Some of the many ways we reach out to the community are:
-Performing Ministry Repertory at churches, nursing homes and community events. For a list of our Repertory with video links,
-Working with, , teaching and performing worship pieces with special needs adults.
-Taking to work with underprivileged children, teaching them how to worship through dance.
-Doing special awareness and fundraising performances like
Dancers Facing The World.

After watching a television documentary which revealed the devastating poverty in Haiti, a Senior Ensemble member from Turning Pointe began prayfully exploring ways of utilizing her dance training to help bring relief and the hope of Christ to the poorest country in our hemisphere. As the details of organizing a weekend of benefits concerts began to take shape, she invited other ensemble members to join her. In July of 2007, ten dancers started intensive rehearsals for "Dancers Facing the World: Hope for Haiti". With hopes of changing lives, they dedicated many hours to re-setting current Turning Pointe repertoire along with learning new pieces chosen and choreographed specifically for the tour. Representatives from GLOW (Gods Love for Orphans and Widows) and Living Water International were in attendance at all three concerts and eager to share with people afterwards about their work in Haiti. The dancers were thrilled that the audiences in Grand Haven, Grand Rapids, and Holland responded generously and over $9,300 was given to support the work of sharing Gods love with the people of Haiti.
