Turning Pointe School of Dance was founded in 1999 with a mission of preparing the dancer in body and spirit to glorify God through artistic excellence. Beginning with 23 children, it has grown into a successful school with nearly 300 students studying dance technique. Over the past decade Turning Pointe has been committed to bringing excellence in dance to the Lakeshore community through performances at the Knickerbocker Theater and outreach performances in churches, nursing homes, and schools.
Considering that the arts are essential to the vitality of a community, Turning Pointe strengthens the Lakeshore's family focus by providing Christ-centered productions and excellent technical dance training at affordable prices. However, the income generated from ticket sales and student tuition only covers about 65% of operating expenses. Currently, the school provides some scholarships for dancers who would not have the opportunity to study dance without financial assistance, but we need your help to reach out to more students.
To ensure continued growth and success, Turning Pointe is launching the Pointe to the Future Capital Campaign seeking financial support from local individuals and corporations for these crucial aspects of its ministry:
P: Provide scholarships for the training and education of underprivileged students and
O: Outreach to area service organizations as well as the general public with
I: Innovation productions while
N: Nurturing the dancers' faith and ensuring that
T: Tomorrow's children will receive a legacy through the establishment of an
E: Endowment Fund.

WINGS
WINGS is the volunteer base for Turning Pointe!
The name, "WINGS" has a wonderful double meaning. From a spiritual standpoint, all the background support we provide our dancers gives them wings to allow them to soar as they express their love of Christ. From a physical standpoint, the wings is the name for the side curtains where the dancers wait to go out onstage. A tremendous amount of work goes on "behind the wings" that allows the dancers to go out onstage and touch the hearts of the audience.
