Training Division

The Training Division is for those interested in studying Classical Ballet at a pre-professional level. Students attend classes two to five times per week as they progress through six levels, receiving formal evaluations every spring. Moving to a higher level is based on ability, not age. We seek to prepare students to dance professionally, to earn college dance scholarships, to work as dance instructors, and to use their dance training as a tool in Christian ministry settings.

At Turning Pointe, our Training Division teachers are passionate about training students to be excellent in their art form—and to worship God with their dancing. Our faculty members are former and current professional dancers trained in classical ballet and other dance forms. Most importantly, our teachers seek to be Godly role models in and out of the classroom.

Contact us, and we will be happy to set up a time for you to visit the school, meet the staff, and take a class. You will be placed in an appropriate Training Division level based on the teacher's recommendation.

Current Classes

Students in second grade and/or seven years old are eligible to be considered for placement in the Training Division. All levels are by placement only.

Level IA - $275 for the semester ($55/mo.)

Wednesday 4:45-5:45pm

Level IB - $60/mo

Wednesday 5:45-7pm

Level II - $120/mo (Ballet)

Monday and Thursday 4:45-6:15

Level III - $140/mo (Ballet, Pre-pointe)

Training a dancer takes a lot of hard work from the student, the family and the teachers. Turning Pointe advises 2-3 years in each level in the Training Division. It is of utmost importance that each dancer master the vocabulary and skill set in each level before proceeding. Though ballet is repetitive at any level, classes do not get boring, there is always something new to master! Unlike academic grades where a student completes the curriculum for each grade in one calendar year, classical ballet training requires at least two years to complete the required syllabus. All students are placed in their level based on teacher reccomendation, in an effort to make sure that every child is receiving the best training possible.

Registration and Tuition

To Register:

Fill out a registration form for each student.

Submit registration in person at the front desk.

Pay your non-refundable registration fee of $35 per student or $55 per family.

Pay the registration deposit of your first month's tuition.

Payments: Tuition payments throughout the semester are due by the 1st of each month.

There is a $40 fee for students who withdraw after the first month of classes.

Tuition remains the same each month regardless of school breaks.

Scholarships:

Scholarships based on financial need are available in limited amounts for dancers in the Training Division taking more than three hours of training per week. Families must apply by August.

Required Class Attire

Female dancers in the Training Division are required to wear:

Pink, footed tights

Pink ballet shoes

Hair secured in a bun

Level IA and IB-Light blue leotard, any style

Level II-Lavender leotard, any style

Level III-Navy Blue leotard, any style

Level IV-Burgandy leotard, any style

Level V-Black leotard, any style

Male dancers in the Training Division are required to wear:

Black stretch pants or tights

White T-shirt

Black ballet shoes

Performing

Students enrolled in the Training Divison have the oportunity to perform in both of Turning Pointe's two major productions each year. Students must attend Friday and/or Saturday rehearsals outside of class times in order to participate in the performances.

Students in Levels III-V are also eligible to audition for Turning Pointe's two Ensemble Companies. The Ensemble Companies rehearse and perform added pieces in our major productions. The Ensembles also participate in Community Outreach performance opportunities, performing at community events and in nursing homes, schools, churches, and other venues.
